What is an IT MOT?

A friendly once-over of your whole IT setup that tells you, in plain English, what is in good shape and what might quietly let you down.
If you run a business without your own IT person, your technology probably just ticks along in the background with nobody really keeping an eye on it. It works, mostly, right up until the day it does not.
Most IT trouble builds up quietly. Out-of-date software, weak passwords, backups that were never tested and old user accounts that should have been closed years ago. You rarely see any of it coming.
An IT MOT puts that right. In about 45 minutes, remote or on-site, we go through the parts of your IT that matter most and give you an honest picture of where you stand today, with no obligation to do anything about it.
What we check
The six areas we look at
We score each area with a simple traffic light. Green for healthy, amber for worth a look, and red for anything that is a genuine risk. You get the results in plain English, not a 40-page audit that leaves you more confused than when you started.
Backups & recovery
Whether your important data is genuinely backed up, and whether those backups have ever been tested by actually restoring them.
Microsoft 365 & email
How your email, OneDrive and SharePoint are set up, who can see what, and whether anything has been left wide open.
Network & Wi-Fi
Your router, firewall and Wi-Fi. Is it fast and reliable, and is it set up in a way that keeps your business safe?
Devices & hardware
What machines you are running, how old they are, and whether there is a sensible plan for replacing them before they fail.
Accounts & access
User accounts, admin rights and what happens when someone joins or leaves. Forgotten logins are a favourite way in for attackers.

Usually around 45 minutes to an hour. We work around your day and keep any disruption to an absolute minimum.
Not at all. We are based in Somerset and love working locally, but most of the check can be done remotely, so we can happily help businesses further afield too.
No. Most of the check happens quietly in the background, and we will agree a time that suits you for anything that needs hands-on access.
Absolutely. Treat it as a second opinion. If everything is in good order, that is great to know. If there are gaps, you will certainly want to be aware of them.
We talk you through the findings and leave you with your report and 90-day plan. If there is something we can help with, we will explain how. If not, there is no pressure at all.
